Jamie Cope aka Jaydan was born and raised in the UK city of Leicester. After discovering drum & bass through his older brother he started attending under 18’s nights around the city and hanging around in his local record shop 5HQ.
In 2003 aged only 16 he attended his first major event at the legendary Sanctuary in Milton Keynes and felt something life changing. As the obsession grew he continued to attend big events uk wide and watching DJs like LTJ Bukem, Grooverider and Fabio he knew that all he wanted was to become a drum & bass DJ. From that point on he was focussed on nothing but drum & bass and by the end of 2004 he had already secured his first release “Awakened” On Reformed Recordings the sister label of Formation Records which received support from several top Djs.
If we fast forward to the present time its clear to see that the same passion for the music that got him started never went away, In a career now spanning over 14 years his back catalogue is vast and varied and contains releases and features across some notable labels like Playaz, Ganja, Innerground, Hospital & Low Down Deep to name just a few, he has guested several times on BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra along with appearances on other overseas national radio stations under his belt. He has also established and maintained 2 independant record labels “Smokin Riddims” & “SR2 Records” which have helped to provide a platform for many artists over the years and both labels continue to grow.
